| Learn to use the Alternative Splicing and Transcript Diversity (ASTD) database, a bioinformatics resource for alternative splice events and transcripts for the human, mouse, and rat systems. Become familiar with the gene searches and the comprehensive gene report pages that contain information on transcripts, promoters, polyadenylation sites, splicing events and microRNA targets. ASTD also provides several tools useful in analyzing introns, predicting exons, examining ORF and ATF context and identifying binding sites for splicing factors. The ASTD combines the information generated by the Alternate Transcript Diversity (ATD) project and the Alternative Splicing Database (ASD) into one comprehensive source. The information contained within ASTD combines reported alternate splicing events manually curated from the literature and computer-generated transcripts created by comparison of expressed sequence tag databases and genomic sequences. The database is maintained by the ASTD team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), an outstation of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and by members of EURASNET.
